A diverse and inclusive comedy show on Zoom
Comedy Happy Hour!
Planning a team event? We have just the thing! A Comedian-hosted virtual happy hour to laugh, connect and relax. Join the creators of the We Heart Mom Jokes podcast for an hour of standup comedy about that intersectional life and the new (but hopefully soon-to-be-old) normal.
Unlike the standard Zoom meeting, this one encourages you to laugh at the presenter and make nonsense comments in the chat.
"We were thrilled to invite Lalita and Smita not only for the fun and entertainment that they provided, but also because the event allowed us to open up conversations about care work, isolation and the need for collective experiences and action." - Open Society Foundations
"We all needed a good laugh and they definitely delivered! The chat option was also a great feature for the audience to connect and joke with each other" - C., Hyundai Capital
I thought I wasn't gonna relate to their mom jokes as a young adult but I laughed so hard that I forgot what I was gonna do next. ---- Iris, Waymo
Others who have laughed with us:
We are 2 working moms in the Bay Area who like to seek validation from strangers at bars, by telling them jokes. We realized in the last year that a lot of women and parents are struggling and that our comedy has been a way for them to connect and feel less alone. We started out with a podcast, We Heart Mom Jokes, but listeners started asking if we would do a live show for them, and now here we are with the "Comedy Happy Hour!".
Smita (Desi Comedy Fest, Rooster T. Feathers, ExtraAF Comedy) is a transplant from India to Singapore to the US. She's been featured in the Huffington Post for her interactive game on parenting in a pandemic. She's a co-producer for the We Heart Mom Jokes and runs a weekly writing workshop "Comedy Writing for Salty people". In her standup, Smita talks about gender, race and the various irritations of modern life. Video Clip.
Lalita Dee (LadyLaughs Comedy Fest, Flappers, Laugh Riot Grrrl Fest) is a writer and comedian originally from Amsterdam. Her observational and narrative humor describes her queer experiences as she navigates her way through the US, the heteropatriarchy, and single motherhood. She is a staff writer at Ladyspike media, regularly hosts the Extra AF Comedy hour, and is a co-producer of the We Heart Mom Jokes podcast. Video Clip.
